From My Nest is part of Subscribed Shelter, a series examining our adoption of technological tools as protective structures against unknown and evolving threats and insecurities. The work takes the brick, a fundamental unit of shelter, and divides it between the familiar material of brick and an adopted technological component, completing one form through two worlds. Here, the brick becomes a fragment of the nest, understood as an intimate refuge where vulnerability, imagination, and unguarded existence can coexist. The nest is not merely a physical shelter but a psychological space shaped by our need to feel protected and at ease. By introducing technology into this elemental structure, the work questions how tools adopted for protection gradually become embedded within our most intimate spaces. The hybrid brick therefore becomes both a symbol of safety and a trace of our growing dependence on the systems we invite into our shelters.
